Submission update
Things have been a bit quiet here as both David and I have been massively busy with other stuff. However, we have a bit more time to sort out the submission as the deadline has been extended by a week, to 16th May. Here is what we have come up with so far:
Title: Organisation Lite
Theme: Impact of web 2.0 in organisations
Form: Case study
Three learning points:
- The platforms that are available to enable mass collaboration and organisation
- The roles that are required within organisations to make the most of the platforms
- The worldview required by leaders and managers to enable organisations to succeed in the networked society
Thoughts on any of these bits would be useful. We also need to come up with the 500 word summary of what the thing is all about…
Interesting topic - good luck with the paper.
I’d throw in the issue of squaring the experimental, lightweight nature of many of the social media tools out there, with the justifiable need for information assurance, records management, data protection and disaster recovery which larger organisations need.
How can the advocates for social media ensure their outputs are accessible, secure and robust? And how can the corporate IT teams allow a space they can be comfortable with for social media to be used flexibly in a corporate environment?
Interesting points, thanks Steph. We will need to check our examples and case studies to see how they met these particular challenges. This comfortably fits under the ‘platforms’ learning point.
Thanks again and do stick around!
